FAQ (4)

Will Eucerin AtoControl Bath and Shower Oil make my skin feel greasy?

No. Atopic skin is extremely dry so it will help replenish your skin but will not leave it feeling oily or greasy.

Is Eucerin AtoControl Bath and Shower Oil suitable for babies?

Yes, it is fine for babies of three months or older but use as a bath additive rather than applying directly to their skin.

What do you mean by a ‘flare-up’ and `the period between flare-ups’?

Broadly speaking, Atopic Dermatitis has two different phases. A ‘flare-up’ is one of the names used to describe the acute, active phase when skin is at its most irritable. It can feel intensely itchy, you may experience a burning sensation and skin can look dry, red and flaky. Between these acute, flare-up phases are periods of time when your skin is relatively calm and less irritated. This period is also known as the non-acute, non-active or interval phase. The length of each phase varies greatly depending on the individual, but products specially formulated to treat and care for atopic skin − such as those in the Eucerin AtoControl range − can help to extend the period between flare-ups and offer relief during acute flare-ups.

Is Atopic Dermatitis the same as Eczema?

Dermatitis and Eczema are the same thing: collective terms for inflammatory changes in the skin. As such, they include many different dermatological diseases. Atopic Eczema and Atopic Dermatitis are also the same thing.

  • Please help
I have been looking all over for the Bath and Shower oil and was advised that it has been discontinued ? It is the only product that works on my babies sensitive skin :(

    Hi Lala,

The Eucerin Ato Control Bath & Shower Oil has most definitely not been discontinued.  It has however, recently undergone a packaging change.  You will notice that the new bottle has a dispenser as per the link below.  Some stores are currently awaiting their stocks of the newly launched product and this could be the reason you are battling to find it.  It is listed at Clicks, Dischem and also at some Foschini outlets.  To view the new packaging, please see the link below, taken from our web-site.

Thank you so much for your loyalty to the Eucerin brand!

    Many Thanks,

    Eucerin ZA Team

  • Why was this product discontinued
The product has been discontinued in all stores, may I ask why. I have been using it on my sons dry skin

    Hi Nosipho,

Thank you for your Review via the Eucerin SA web-site.  We are pleased to advise that the Ato Control Lotion has not been discontinued.  There was a slight hiccup with supply to some of the retailers, but glad to say this has been resolved and the product is currently being shipped through our Supply Chain.   If your local Dischem or Clicks store has not yet received their stock from their warehouses, Foschini stores have also ordered it, so that could be another option for you.  We regret the inconvenience that this break in supply has caused you and we thank you for taking the trouble to get in touch with us.
