Legal framework and procedure at Beiersdorf

Animals are very dear to us for the Eucerin brand, and we are therefore convinced that animal testing is not necessary for cosmetics, which has moreover been banned in the EU since 2004! Eucerin is thus making a determined effort to make animal testing obsolete worldwide. Consequently, we do not carry out or commission animal testing for cosmetic products and their ingredients.
Only exception: If national laws force Beiersdorf to do so, Beiersdorf must comply with them and, in exceptional cases, perform tests. For example, in the sale of other Beiersdorf cosmetics in China. Animal testing to officially demonstrate the efficacy is legally required there. Our explicit goal here is to convince the Chinese authorities that animal testing is not necessary for cosmetic products. This is why Eucerin continues to work resolutely for the international acceptance of alternative testing methods.
