Eucerin AtoControl Body Care Lotion uses a combination of concentrated Omega-6-fatty acids (Evening Primrose Oil and Grape Seed Oil) and soothing Licochalcone A to replenish skin and restore its natural barrier. Apply once or twice daily or as adjunctive care to Eucerin AtoControl Acute Care Cream during a flare-up.
With regular application itchiness and tightness are relieved and skin feels soft and noticeably smoothed. Eucerin AtoControl Body Care Lotion is clinically and dermatologically tested and proven to be compatible with atopic skin in adults, children and babies from 4 weeks.The water-in-oil formula is fragrance-free, colourant-free and paraben-free to minimise the risk of skin irritation and allergies.
Clinical Studies
Clinical and dermatological studies show very good skin tolerability on patients with atopic skin.
Main findings
In a Product in Use (PiU) test, Eucerin AtoControl Body Care Lotion was used alongside Eucerin AtoControl Acute Care Cream by a sample of 144 men and women, aged 30+, with mild and moderate Atopic Dermatitis. After four weeks of daily use they reported the following results:

- 97% agreed with the statement that the products “Improve skin condition”

- 96% agreed that, with the products, “I don’t need to scratch a lot during the night”
- 94% agreed that, with the products, they weren’t “waking up early due to skin problems”
- 93% agreed that, during the trial period, they woke up “less often during the night”
- 89% agreed that the products help them to “wake up well rested”
- 88% agreed that the products helped them to have a “good energy level during the day”
Improves quality of life
- Before the trial, 92% of the sample agreed that Atopic Dermatitis affected their quality of life. After four weeks of using the AtoControl products, only 38% of the sample agreed that the disease affected their quality of life. From this we can infer that, as a result of using the products, 54% of the sample felt there was an improvement in their quality of life.

The care products in the Eucerin AtoControl range contain a unique active ingredient complex:
- Licochalcone: an extract of liquorice which soothes skin and reduces redness
- Ceramides: to strengthen skin’s barrier function
These ingredients work together to soothe skin during acute flare-ups as well as to deliver the daily, basic care that atopic skin needs to prolong the period between flare-ups.
In addition to these actives, acute-care-cream also contains Menthoxypropandiol and Decanediol to calm and soothe skin during a flare-up. A derivative of menthol, Menthoxypropandiol cools skin and works at a sensory level to reduce feelings of itchiness. Anti-bacterial Decanediol combats the Stapphylococcus aureus bacteria associated with Atopic Dermatitis.

Is Atopic Dermatitis the same as Eczema?
No. Eczema is a general term for any inflammation of the skin. Atopic Dermatitis is a form of eczema, so is also known as Atopic Eczema, but there are several other skin diseases that are eczemas but not Atopic Dermatitis.
