Product info

Moisturiser for acne-prone skin

Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Cream is a moisturiser for acne-prone skin specially formulated for people undergoing medical acne treatment.

One of the side effects of acne medication is that it frequently causes severe dryness in skin. This intensely moisturising, non-greasy cream soothes these symptoms. Ceramides support skin’s protective barrier and reduce moisture loss, SymSitive* helps to calm irritation such as stinging and burning directly at source and Licochalcone A helps to reduce redness. The formula helps to bring demanding, blemish and acne-prone skin under control and it feels smooth and supple after the first application.

Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Cream is suitable for use during pregnancy.

Clinical and dermatological studies

Clinical and dermatological studies prove good skin tolerability and efficacy on blemish-prone skin. Suitable for sensitive skin.

In a self-assessment study a sample of 58 men and women aged between 16 and 43 (average age 24) applied Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Cream twice a day for two weeks. At the time of the study, all respondents had been undergoing medical acne treatment (with topical Benzoyl Peroxide, topical Tretinoin, topical Adapalene or oral Isotretinoin) for at least two weeks.

The patients reported the following results:

  • 96%: skin feels comfortable after regular application
  • 94%: silky smooth texture
  • 93%: reduces feelings of tightness
  • 91%: soothes skin under medical acne treatment
  • 91%: spreads easily
  • 91%: skin feels softer after the first application
  • 90%: alleviates side-effects of acne treatment
  • 89%: the cream reduces stinging and burning

How To Use

Instructions

  • Use daily in the morning and/or in the evening – as often as necessary
  • Apply a chickpea-sized amount to a thoroughly cleansed face (try Eucerin DermoPurifyer Cleansing Gel)
  • Massage gently
  • Avoid contact with your eyes
  • Follow with an appropriate sun protection product such as Eucerin Oil Control Sun Gel-Cream Dry Touch SPF 50+. This is important to help prevent pigmentation issues in blemish-prone skin
  • Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Cream is an excellent base for make-up

Your daily skincare routines

Cleanse and tone

Cleanse skin in the morning and evening:

  • am: to remove the sebum and dead skin cells that have accumulated overnight
  • pm: to remove make-up and free skin from the day’s dirt

Use gentle cleansing products such as Eucerin DermoPurifyer Cleansing Gel with lukewarm water and follow with an appropriate toner. You may also benefit from using a scrub once a week to unclog pores and refine skin texture.

We do not recommend using an alcohol-based toner and the scrub alongside acne medication as it can make skin more sensitive.

Care

The care product you use depends on the severity of your acne and on the type of treatment you are undergoing.

If you are using medical treatment for acne, Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Cream helps to alleviate some of the symptoms such as intense dryness. It should be applied five minutes after your medication so the treatment can absorb fully.

If you have mild to moderate acne, but are not undergoing medical acne treatment, use a soothing and mattifying moisturiser such as Eucerin DermoPurifyer Mattifying Fluid in the morning and evening.

For clearer and smoother-looking skin over time, you may also like to incorporate our skin renewal treatment into your routine. It is suitable for all blemish-prone skin that is not undergoing medical acne treatment and should be used once a day only − ideally in the evening. You can use it before the mattifying fluid or on its own.

Sun Protection

Sun protection is an important step in your morning routine. Blemishes can cause pigmentation issues if over-exposed to the sun, and acne medications can make blemish-prone skin even more sensitive to UV rays. Eucerin Oil Control Sun Gel-Cream Dry Touch SPF 50+ offers the levels of protection that your skin needs and should be applied before your cover-up and make-up. If you’re applying sun protection after a topical acne treatment wait five minutes to allow the treatment to fully absorb.

Concealer and make-up

Cover blemishes and even out skin tone with foundation and/or a concealer. Choose products that are non-comedogenic (i.e. that will not block pores) and, ideally, ones that contain ingredients that work to improve the condition of blemish-prone skin. Be sure to remove all make-up before you go to bed.

    Should I switch
Hi i have acne prone skin and im on and off acne treatment. My dermatologist put me on eucerin products and i have been using the dermopur cleanser, adjunctive soothing cream and sunscreen fluid for over 6 years and very happy with the products. I just want to know that though im acne prone should the period when im not on treatment because my skin is clear switch to maybe the mattfying cream or is it still fine to stick to the my current products that i mentioned above. I just want what is best for my skin to maximize my treatment and prevent breakouts.

    Hi Thabi,

Thank you for your query. Once you have completed your course of acne medication through your Dermatologist, we would suggest that you carry on using the range, but in terms of moisturising, you should switch to the Mattifying Fluid for use at night. During that day you could use the Dermo Purifyer Protective Fluid which contains an SPF of 30. Under this, you would use the Triple Effect Serum, which will assist with post-acne marks. For more information on these products, please visit our web-site using the following links: https://www.eucerin.co.za/products/dermo-purifyer/protective-fluid-spf-30 and https://www.eucerin.co.za/products/dermo-purifyer/triple-effect-serum

    Many thanks.
