Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Soothing Cream is a moisturiser for acne-prone skin specially formulated for people undergoing medical acne treatment.

One of the side effects of acne medication is that it frequently causes severe dryness in skin. This intensely moisturising, non-greasy cream soothes these symptoms. Ceramides support skin’s protective barrier and reduce moisture loss, SymSitive* helps to calm irritation such as stinging and burning directly at source and Licochalcone A helps to reduce redness. The formula helps to bring demanding, blemish and acne-prone skin under control and it feels smooth and supple after the first application.

Clinical and dermatological studies prove good skin tolerability and efficacy on blemish-prone skin. Suitable for sensitive skin.

In a self-assessment study a sample of 58 men and women aged between 16 and 43 (average age 24) applied Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Cream twice a day for two weeks. At the time of the study, all respondents had been undergoing medical acne treatment for at least two weeks.

How To Use

Instructions

Use daily in the morning and/or in the evening – as often as necessary
Apply a chickpea-sized amount to a thoroughly cleansed face (try Eucerin DermoPurifyer Cleansing Gel)
Massage gently
Avoid contact with your eyes
Follow with an appropriate sun protection product such as Eucerin Oil Control Sun Gel-Cream Dry Touch SPF 50+. This is important to help prevent pigmentation issues in blemish-prone skin

Your daily skincare routines

Cleanse and tone

Cleanse skin in the morning and evening:

am: to remove the sebum and dead skin cells that have accumulated overnight
pm: to remove make-up and free skin from the day’s dirt

Use gentle cleansing products such as Eucerin DermoPurifyer Cleansing Gel with lukewarm water and follow with an appropriate toner. You may also benefit from using a scrub once a week to unclog pores and refine skin texture.

We do not recommend using an alcohol-based toner and the scrub alongside acne medication as it can make skin more sensitive.

Care

The care product you use depends on the severity of your acne and on the type of treatment you are undergoing.

If you are using medical treatment for acne, Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Cream helps to alleviate some of the symptoms such as intense dryness. It should be applied five minutes after your medication so the treatment can absorb fully.

If you have mild to moderate acne, but are not undergoing medical acne treatment, use a soothing and mattifying moisturiser such as Eucerin DermoPurifyer Mattifying Fluid in the morning and evening.

For clearer and smoother-looking skin over time, you may also like to incorporate our skin renewal treatment into your routine. It is suitable for all blemish-prone skin that is not undergoing medical acne treatment and should be used once a day only − ideally in the evening. You can use it before the mattifying fluid or on its own.

Sun Protection

Sun protection is an important step in your morning routine. Blemishes can cause pigmentation issues if over-exposed to the sun, and acne medications can make blemish-prone skin even more sensitive to UV rays. Eucerin Oil Control Sun Gel-Cream Dry Touch SPF 50+ offers the levels of protection that your skin needs and should be applied before your cover-up and make-up. If you’re applying sun protection after a topical acne treatment wait five minutes to allow the treatment to fully absorb.

Concealer and make-up

Cover blemishes and even out skin tone with foundation and/or a concealer. Choose products that are non-comedogenic (i.e. that will not block pores) and, ideally, ones that contain ingredients that work to improve the condition of blemish-prone skin. Be sure to remove all make-up before you go to bed.

Licochalcone A is a powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and skin-soothing ingredient. It is derived from the root of the Chinese Licorice plant (Glycyrrhiza Inflata) which uses natural compounds to protect its cells from excessive sunlight. When used in skincare products, Licochalcone A works to reduce inflammation and neutralises free radicals that negatively influence skin cells and accelerate the aging process. It helps to protect the deeper epidermal skin layers from sun-induced effects.

Introducing Ceramide

Ceramides are the most important skin barrier lipids. They repair and strengthen the skin's barrier function and protect the skin from drying out. Dry skin symptoms are relieved.

Yes. The product can be used on an ongoing basis even when you are not having medical treatment for acne. If you have dry, blemish-prone skin it’s likely to be very suitable, but if your skin stops being so dry you may find it too rich and need a lighter product. Which type of medical acne treatments does Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Cream work with?

It is an ideal moisturiser to accompany both topical treatments (such as Adapalene and Benzoyl Peroxide) and systemic acne therapies (such as Isotretinoin).
I’ve previously used the Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Cream. What is the difference between that and this Eucerin DermoPurifyer Adjunctive Cream?

It is now free from Parabens and no longer contains an SPF. This means that this product is now also suitable for night time use. Skin is particularly sensitive to the sun when it is undergoing acne treatment so we recommend you apply additional sun protection in the morning. Does the product contain sun protection factor?

No, so you can use it in the evenings. When skin is undergoing medical acne treatment it is particularly sensitive to the sun so, if your skin is going to be exposed for a considerable time, you should regularly apply a sun screen such as Eucerin Oil Control Sun Gel-Cream Dry Touch SPF 50+.
Are the Eucerin DermoPurifyer care products suitable as a make-up base?

Yes. If skin is thoroughly moisturised then it will be easier to apply make-up evenly.
Is acne genetic?

A genetic predisposition certainly counts. If both parents had acne in their youth there is a greater likelihood that their children will also experience acne.

Love this !

Best moisturiser ever especially while on Orotane for acne. Any suggestions for a make up/ foundation that works well together with this and the spf 50 sun gel? The one I am currently using (catrice) cakes if I use the eucerin products mentioned above.

When applying the Adjunctive Soothing Care Cream, remember to "pat" it into the skin, rather than rubbing as this can help to alleviate the problem of pilling when using a foundation.

Dry Acne prone skin

I’ve been using this for a few days now. My Dr recommended. But it’s been making my skin really dry. What alternative can ???. I also have acne prone skin

We are making the assumption that you are currently taking acne medication as this product is formulated to address the dryness associated with the side-effects of the acne medication (i.e. dryness). The Adjunctive Soothing Cream ensures sufficient moisture to avoid the dryness. It is very unusual to experience dryness from using this particular product. Perhaps it is the acne medication that is drying out the skin. Having said that, we would always recommend that if you are under the guidance of a Dermatologist, that you provide feedback about the product that has been recommended for you so that a decision can be made as to an alternative which may better suit your particular skin condition.
