Aquaphor ointment for very dry, cracked skin Eucerin Aquaphor Repairing Ointment gives dry to very dry, cracked and irritated skin the SOS care it needs. The water-free ointment forms a gentle, semi-occlusive, protective barrier over skin that supports the natural transfer of water vapor and oxygen to and from skin allowing skin to ‘breathe’ and strengthen its natural protective barrier. The ointment is enriched with Glycerin and Panthenol. Glycerin is an effective moisturizer that attracts water and helps to keep it in the skin. It works alongside Panthenol which helps to speed up regeneration and repair while also moisturizing skin. Fragrance- and preservative-free, Eucerin Aquaphor Repairing Ointment has been clinically and dermatologically proven to repair very dry, cracked and irritated skin. The soothing, transparent ointment is easy to apply and massages gently into problem areas of skin such as the knees and elbows, cracked knuckles and cuticles and cracked heels. With only a few ingredients, it is well tolerated by sensitive skin and is suitable for use on babies and children as well as on minor burns and on skin after superficial dermatological procedures such as laser treatments and chemical peels1. Skin is regenerated, protected and repaired. Eucerin Aquaphor Repairing Ointment should only be used on re-epithelialized skin (i.e. once new tissue has formed) and not on open, wet or bleeding wounds. Ask your Dermatologist for advice on how long you should wait after treatment before using the product.

Clinical Formula

Panthenol

Panthenol and Dexpanthenol are two names commonly used for the same ingredient.  Panthenol participates in numerous metabolic processes (e.g. energy production, synthesis of fatty acids) and helps to improve hydration in the outermost layers of the skin. Panthenol converts into Panthotenic Acid (a B-Complex Vitamin) in the skin and enhances skin regeneration and repair. When applied regularly, it has been proven to considerably improve symptoms of skin irritation such as dryness, roughness, scaling and redness. It is also an effective moisturizer. Very well absorbed by the skin, it regenerates, stimulates epithelialisation and wound healing. It alleviates irritation and inflammation.

    Good product but shrunken size
I have been using Aquaphor on my 32 month old son since birth. Used to buy the 110ml but it has now shrunk to 88.9g but still the same price. It has now become expensive and might have to rethink using it as his only moisturiser.
